COVID-19 Policy & Tax Deadline Update

Dear Valued Clients,

We wanted to update you about our response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and how that will affect the preparation of your tax return this year.  Both the Federal Government and the State of California have postponed the April 15th tax filing deadline until July 15th.  In addition, they have also postponed payment of any 2019 balances due and the first and second quarter 2020 estimated tax payments until July 15th.

Our office staff have been working remotely since the beginning of the Shelter in Place order issued by Governor Newsom last month.  Due to the challenges of working remote and family obligations stemming from the closing of schools, we have not been able to complete returns on the schedule of a normal year.  We will continue to prepare returns on a first in, first out basis, but we cannot guarantee when returns will be completed.  If we received all of your tax information by our March 11th cutoff, we estimate your return will be completed by Memorial Day.

Our preference is to deliver returns to you electronically to be in compliance with the Shelter in Place order and to maintain social distancing.  Where electronic delivery is not possible, we will have the return processed and mailed to you or available for pick-up.  We also ask that you send documents to us electronically, if possible.

Our office will be open normal business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm weekdays to process returns for mailing or pick-up and to accept drop offs.  However, the doors to the building will closed.  Please call 650-209-1800 to be let in.  The Young, Craig & Co. Social Distancing Policy calls for only one client in the waiting room at a time.  If someone is in the waiting room when you arrive, we ask that you remain outside until the waiting room has been vacated.  Maintain at least six feet of separation at all times for your safety and for the safety of others.

While we are preparing tax returns, we are also assisting clients to take advantage of the loan and tax provisions recently enacted by Congress in the CARES Act and other legislation.  Please visit our website, www.YCCLLP.com to learn more about this legislation.  Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.  In some cases, an amended return can be filed for immediate benefit.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding during these unprecedented times.  We appreciate your continued patronage and we look forward to maintaining our commitment to provide excellent service to you.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.  For the timeliest response, please contact your primary accountant or the front desk.

Sincerely,

Young, Craig & Co.
